Desert Navy Update

Richard Volpe

With the coming of the March winds, we appear to be seeing some positive activities pertaining to the attempts at getting the virus under control—the problem that has been with us for over a year now. During this period of time, most clubs, including the Desert Navy, have been in a “holding pattern,” with the emphasis being on keeping us all as safe as possible and adhering to the guidelines put together by the professionals to help achieve this.

Being a service-orientated organization, our activities may be limited at present, but our doors are never closed to those in need. Emergencies are usually never planned, and the unexpected can occur at any time of the day or night. As a club, we do have access to a wide assortment of medical equipment available, and help and support can be only a phone call away for basic things like crutches, wheelchairs, and even an assortment of electrical motorized equipment if the need is there. For additional details, feel free to call Rich Volpe, and he will be happy to talk to you. His number is listed below.

During these times when there are so many restrictions, some members do tend to get together for lunch at a restaurant close by where all the virus-related guidelines are strictly followed. An RSVP is not required, but if you are planning on attending for the first time, it is advisable to call Rich, as the recognized social isolation guidelines are followed, and the restaurant management appreciates knowing this so they can be prepared at the time of the arrivals. Feel free to call Rich Volpe for further detail on any of the information above. He can be reached at 480-802-2532.
