Desert Navy’s Moving On

Richard Volpe

As we continue to move on after a year of many challenges, the Desert Navy is back again resuming our normal scheduling of meetings on the  third Friday of each month. Meetings are scheduled to start at 11 a.m. and are being held in the back meeting room of the IHOP restaurant located off Arizona Avenue within the Target shopping area. All past veterans associated with the Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marines are always welcome. It’s a great opportunity to meet new friends and also possibly run into some old shipmates or others you’ve lost touch with over the years. Mark the dates on your calendars, as our meetings are planned to be on a monthly basis that will run from September up until May when we close down for the summer months.

The next Desert Navy meeting is scheduled for Feb. 18. Once again, we have the good fortune of having a guest speaker who is well known in the area. Our guest speaker will be Officer Noah Cueker of the Chandler Police Department Crime’s Prevention Unit, and I’m sure he will be passing on some valuable information for us all pertaining to this important topic. In general, at our meetings, whenever possible, we invite a guest speaker who provides us with not only a wealth of information, but advice and aids on how we can check into some available benefits that we’re not aware of.

As a club, our doors are never closed for those in need. One of our club’s primary goals has always been to provide support to those veterans who may be in need due to an unexpected accident or hardship. Our club has a variety of medical supplies and equipment that can be obtained in a short amount of time for those in need of temporary or long-term support. For additional details regarding this or additional information on what we have readily available in our storage areas, feel free to call the number listed below. If you have any questions regarding the Desert Navy’s membership or would like additional information, please feel free to give Rich Volpe a call at 480-802-2532.

Have a safe and healthy new year and keep the faith as we move on to new opportunities following the many challenges we’ve faced in the past.
