Abraham Lincoln embodies much of what we feel about our country. He was a man of wit and wisdom – not to mention a sense of humor! A memory of him: while walking along a dusty road in Illinois, he was overtaken by a stranger driving to town. Lincoln asked him, “Will you have the goodness to take my overcoat to town for me?” The man responded, “With pleasure, but how will you get it again?” Lincoln’s prompt reply was, “Oh, very readily. I intend to remain in it.”
Attorney Glynn Gilcrease will make his appearance as Abraham Lincoln at the upcoming dinner for Sun Lakes Community Church. These quarterly dinners provide fellowship for members and attendees as well as anyone in Sun Lakes who might enjoy an evening out. The dinner is February 10, and starts at 5:30 p.m. It will take place in the Arizona Room of the Sun lakes Country Club.
Glynn W. Gilcrease, Jr., is a well-respected trial lawyer in Tempe, Arizona. Abraham Lincoln, 16th President of the United States, was also a trial lawyer. Gilcrease says he often asks himself, “What would Lincoln do?” in a variety of situations in his practice. The first answer is that Abraham Lincoln would prepare thoroughly and exhaustively. This has advanced his professionalism and success as a lawyer, and it has also evolved into public speaking as Abe Lincoln at a variety of events and conferences.
Gilcrease performs a one-man play as Abraham Lincoln and does motivational speaking based on Lincoln’s life. It is said to be, “a performance that is guaranteed to entertain, enlighten and educate as well as inspire the concepts of honesty, integrity and character exemplified by our former President.”
The cost of the event – including a buffet dinner – is just $15.00. Contact the Sun Lakes Community Church office at 480-895-9147 to purchase tickets.
Each Sunday at 9:30 a.m., Sun Lakes Community Church meets in the Sun Lakes Chapel, across from the Sun Lakes Country Club. Sun Lakes Community Church is an interdenominational church – everyone is welcome!
