Norm Noble
Don Robins, a Sun Lakes Rotarian since 2005, has never been without a project since joining the club, especially if it involves kids. As Director of Educational Services, Don has spearheaded activities with most of the elementary, junior and senior high schools within the Chandler Unified School District. Now that he is retired as a General Motors automotive engineer, he has spent considerable time instilling a love for science in children. Specifically, he has worked on a program developed by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) called F1 in Schools. It is designed to get middle and high school students excited about math and science and to encourage them to consider a career in science or engineering. He has also worked hard on the very successful A World in Motion (AWIM) program for K-9 and the Collegiate Design Series for college students that goes beyond textbook theory by designing, building and testing the performance of real vehicles.
Because of these activities, the club was privileged to select Don Robins as April’s Rotarian of the Month.
Don and his wife Judith reside in Ironwood.
