Mark your calendars for 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 5, for a rewarding afternoon of music by long-time Chandler and Sun Lakes favorites, the Driftwood Brass Quintet, at Risen Savior Lutheran Church. The brass ensemble will be joined by highly-regarded organist Virginia Shoberg-Confare who will both accompany the quintet and perform selected solos.
Members of the quintet are well-known Arizona musicians. They are Eddie Madden, conductor; Tom Williams, trumpet; Tom Schulz, trumpet; Sue Moon, French horn; Bob Spevacek, tuba; and Bob Confare, trombone. Two of the musicians currently perform with the Chandler Symphony Orchestra.
In keeping with the tradition of Driftwood Brass Quintet concerts, the eclectic program is sure to satisfy the musical tastes of everyone in attendance. Song selections will vary from classical, to patriotic, to hymns (e.g. an up-beat arrangement of “Amazing Grace” written for the Canadian Brass), to “Stormy Weather,” a medley of Irish folk songs and more.
There is no set admission fee for the concert. A free-will offering in any amount will be accepted during the concert. Risen Savior Lutheran Church is located on Alma School Road just south of Chandler Heights Boulevard. Doors will open at 2:30 p.m.
