Ed Robson Library is located at 9330 E. Riggs Road, in Sun Lakes, and is open to the public Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Crafting Together Series

Nov. 1, 9, and 15

All sessions begin at 10 a.m.

Join us once a week for a unique craft! Each session provides an opportunity to create something new. Learn a new activity while you engage with the community, relax, and have fun. All skill levels are welcome to attend as we enjoy crafting together! All materials are provided.

This month’s all-ages craft is Marbled Fall Leaves (Nov. 1).

This month’s adult crafts (ages 5 and up) are CD Mosaic Art (Nov. 9) and Vinyl Record Bookends (Nov. 15).

Sound Healing Meditation

Thursday, Nov. 2, from 1:30 to 2 p.m. or 2 to 2:30 p.m.

Sound has been used as a meditative tool around the world for thousands of years. We will experience the calming and restorative effects of crystal singing bowls, rainstick, and melodically tuned chimes. Participants will leave with a renewed sense of inner stillness, ease, and presence. Each session is the same.

Making and Playing Simple Percussion Instruments

Saturday, Nov. 4, from 2 to 3:00 p.m.

Budding percussionists of all ages will learn how to make and play simple percussion instruments from wood and items found around the home. The workshop will end by creating instruments and playing a brief concert performed by all our new percussionists!

The Titanic: A Tragedy

Monday, Nov. 6, from 10 to 11 a.m.

Come and learn why and how the Titanic sank. Our community expert presenter Tony Contrabasso has spent much of his life researching and building ships at scale. His primary interest has been in naval architecture and ship sturdiness. Take advantage of this presentation and learn intrinsic and fascinating details about the ship once dubbed “The Unsinkable.”

Coping with Grief During the Holidays

Join us to watch and discuss Mary Lou Williams: The Lady Who Swings the Band (2015). Following the screening, we will have a book club-style discussion based around the film.

Funky Soul Jazz Concert

Saturday, Nov. 18, from 11 a.m. to noon

Come to the library to watch a performance from PHXJAZZ showcasing funk and soul. The quartet, led by performer and educator Keith Kelly, will perform an hour of music as well as discussion surrounding the cultural context of the genre. Destress with Art
