One of the easiest and most effective ways to enjoy essential oils is through diffusion. Placing a few drops of oil in an essential oil diffuser can immediately alter the atmosphere of your home, office, hotel room, or any indoor area, as the potent aroma of essential oils travel through the air.
The beauty of using an essential oil diffuser is that it gives you the ability to combine and blend several oils, thus creating a new aroma that offers the benefits of more than one essential oil, while producing a custom, unique aroma.
Step 1—Choose Your Blend Type
Decide what effect you want from your diffuser blend. Do you want something invigorating or motivating? Are you trying to create a specific environment? Once you choose the goal of your diffuser blend, it will be much easier to choose your oils.
Step 2—Select an Oil Group
Next, select a group of oils that fits the description you want to achieve. If you want a relaxing diffuser blend, choose oils that are known for their calming properties. A sample of a diffuser blend to help you with sleep:
Good Night, Sleep Tight: 5 drops Lavender, 5 drops Cedarwood
If you want something that creates an uplifting environment, choose oils with a bright, refreshing aroma, such as your citrus oils. You may want to try:
Good Morning Blend: 2 drops Wild Orange, 2 drops Lime, 2 drops Peppermint
If you want something that can help with a health condition, such as cold or flu, choose oils that benefit such conditions. An example of a diffuser blend that supports clear breathing is:
Deep Breath: 4 drops Peppermint, 2 drops Eucalyptus, 2 drops Lemon, 2 drops Rosemary
There are even diffuser blends for the holidays. Diffusing essential oils is a better, non-toxic way to create a beautiful environment in your home. Replace those aroma candles that emit carcinogens into the air.
Using essential oils aromatically can be the boost you need to get through the normal stresses of day-to-day life.
If you are interested in learning more about the benefits, both mental and physical, that can be gained by simply diffusing essential oils, please join me for one of my Introduction to Essential Oils classes. And I am excited to announce I will be resuming live, in-person classes in September. Classes are scheduled for Sept. 11, 18, and 25. In these classes, I will introduce you to the basic 10 essential oils and the ways to use them. We will also make a blend of your choice to take home, and all of this is free. I will also offer intro classes on Zoom on Tuesday nights for those of you not in the Sun Lakes area. One-on-one classes are also available.
