ESL Bible Study: Bridging Language and Faith

First Baptist Church is offering a new unit for their English as a Second Language (ESL) Bible study. This program is a remarkable initiative that combines the learning of the English language with the exploration of biblical teachings. However, this class is also for anyone who struggles with understanding the Bible. This class is held weekly on Thursdays at 12:30 p.m.

For many non-native English speakers, understanding the Bible in a different language can be challenging. ESL Bible study provides a structured environment where learners can improve their English skills while engaging with scripture. The use of simple language, repetition, and interactive activities helps participants grasp both the language and the message. Pam Wortman, who holds a master’s degree in ESL, will be teaching the class.

ESL Bible study allows participants to reflect on scriptures in a way that is meaningful to them, fostering a stronger spiritual foundation. The discussions and shared reflections contribute to a more profound appreciation of faith. ESL Bible study groups often bring together individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. This diversity enriches the learning experience as participants share their unique perspectives and interpretations of biblical texts.

ESL Bible study is a powerful combination of language learning and spiritual growth. So, whether you struggle with English, whether you struggle with understanding the Bible, or whether you are a new Christian wanting to learn more, this class is for you. Imagine you are stranded on a deserted island and you know nothing of earth. Where on earth are you? Now suppose you are standing on the moon with a giant telescope. Do you get a clearer picture of earth? It’s always easier looking at the big picture first. Come join us. For more information, visit our website at www.fbcsl.org or call 480-895-1088.
