Are you a genealogy fanatic? Do you love digging into records and finding your long-ago relatives? Do you love constructing a family tree on Ancestry or Family Search? Are you the historian for your family? Are you looking to join forces with like-minded researchers? AZ Genbuds could be the group for you. We are mid- to high-level experienced researchers with several to many years of experience searching for ancestors and have family trees on sites on the Internet. We are looking to expand our numbers with women or men interested in continuing their research and finding long-lost ancestors and solutions to uncover family mysteries. AZ Genbuds meets twice a month on the first and third Friday from 9:30 a.m. until noon, in the Ceramics Room in the Cottonwood Palo Verde Community Center on Robson Drive, south of Riggs Road.
Due to COVID-19, the past two years have led most informative speakers to no longer travel to meetings to make presentations, or only present via Zoom. However, our membership is working hard to find presenters, either in-house or off-campus. The Mesa Visitors Center will most likely be our first meeting of each month. The second meeting will be a study hall format, an opportunity to practice the new information we have learned and to aid fellow members in their search by sharing our own experiences and expertise. Bring your laptops, and let’s get working on those hard-to-find ancestors!
Regular meetings begin in September, although our first meeting will be the third Friday. During the summer months, we have the room in the same timeframe and will be utilizing it as a study hall—private time to work on our family research, share knowledge, and aid others with their search.
We have prepared an interview questionnaire to make it easier for us to understand your research background and abilities. If you think you are a fit for our group and would like more information, please send a request to Diane at [email protected]. The questionnaire will be forwarded to you. We want to get to know you and your level of experience in researching your family history. Please answer the questions thoroughly, and please be specific. We appreciate your time filling it out and returning it. Thank you for taking the time to do so.
