Assistance League of East Valley is now fully independent and operating under the new name of Valley Bloom. Long a favorite of Sun Lakes residents, with its Thrift Shop and extensive programs for children and families in need, the organization will continue providing clothing and scholarships for children and homeless teens and necessities for families in crisis.
“This change gives us full local control while keeping our heart exactly where it’s always been for over 30 years, serving East Valley families with compassion, care, and action,” said Ibis Valles, president.
“That means quicker decisions, deeper connections, and more flexibility to grow alongside our community. Our name may be changing, but our mission and values remain as strong as ever. We’re still 100 percent volunteer-run, program focused, and committed to making a direct impact here at home,” said Valles.
Though the upscale Thrift Shop continues to be open this summer, a ceremonial ribbon-cutting will take place at 9 a.m. on Aug. 20. Summer hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday at the shop, located at 2326 N. Alma School Road, Chandler.
Last year the organization provided new clothing and uniforms to 7,670 children in five East Valley School districts, urgent supplies for 500 homeless teens, college scholarships for 17 youths, 4,000 assault survivor kits for distribution through 10 agencies, and monthly adult enrichment programs at Tempe Adult Day Care.
Valley Bloom is a nonprofit, charitable organization committed to volunteer service in the community. Members work with community agencies and schools to provide help to children and adults in need. Their programs are funded through the Thrift Shop, grants, and donations, and all funds raised are returned to East Valley communities. For more information, go to www.valleybloom.org.
