Welcome to September and the beginning of a new season of activities in and around Sun Lakes. With that in mind, the Fun Lakers Club (FLC) has planned a calendar of events for this year which will delight and entertain all of our members.
First, a quick reminder that Trivia Night in the Saguaro Room at Cottonwood Country Club is on September 10. We will have a Mexican buffet; fajita bar with all the fixings, followed by team trivia. Mike Banta will chair the event again this year. It will be a great evening for all trivia enthusiasts. The deadline is September 2 so check out our website at www.funlakers.org or contact Frank Mills at [email protected] for last minute details.
On October 15, FLC is co-hosting a German Fest with the Corvette Club on the Palo Verde patio. The fest includes live German music by Jan and Bruce Mundy, the Candlelight Combo. Our dinner menu will, of course, include beer brats, sauerkraut, German potato salad and strudel. Open bar begins at 5:00 p.m., including imported German beer ($4). Dinner is at 6:00 p.m. Following dinner, there will be music and dancing, as well as having everyone join in for a few German drinking songs. Prizes will be given out for best costumes, so dress up in your lederhosen, German alpine hats, and/or dirndl dresses. Cost for the event is $18 per member and $23 for nonmembers.
An Improv Night is scheduled for November 19. Details for the event will be forthcoming. The flyer and registration will be emailed to all members as soon as the information is available.
To complete the fall calendar, FLC will be hosting its annual Holiday Dinner/Dance on December 10 in the San Tan Ballroom at Cottonwood CC. The featured band for the evening will be Chuck E. Baby and the Allstars. They have been voted the best party band in Arizona! It will be quite a special holiday event for Fun Lakers, so be sure to save the date.
