Welcome to 2019! We hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday season. The Fun Lakers Club concluded 2018 with the holiday dinner/dance held in the San Tan Ballroom. The event was a sell-out, and everyone enjoyed the festivities, including an outstanding dinner menu and dancing provided by the Thaddeus Rose Band. Special thanks to the planning and decorating committees for all of their hard work, especially to Joan and Bill Bachand. It was truly a magical evening.
Our first event of 2019 is the Fun Lakers annual members meeting, which will be held on Saturday, January 5, at 5:30 p.m., poolside in Oakwood. This is a meet-and-greet, no cost event. The main dish will be provided, with everyone bringing a side dish to share. It is also an opportunity for current members to renew their memberships for 2019. Memberships may be renewed at the meeting, or you may download the renewal form from our website, www.funlakers.org, and mail it directly to Jackie Morgan, the FLC Treasurer. The cost for membership remains the same: $12.00 per person.
Trivia Night will be returning this year, so please mark your calendar for Saturday, January 19, in the Saguaro Room at Cottonwood. There will be a taco bar with dessert, the trivia contest with prizes, a 50/50 drawing and music. Space is limited, and Fun Lakers Club members will have first priority in making their reservations. The event flyer and registration form have been sent out to all FLC members. Non-members may download a form directly from our website.
Our season-long, Sun Lakes Dance Party, sponsored by the Fun Lakers Club, will continue into the new year. Future dance party dates include January 17, February 21, March 21 and April 11. All dances this year are located in the San Tan Ballroom in Cottonwood. The cost at the door is $12.00 per person. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. A dance lesson begins at 6:30 p.m., and dancing will be from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. There will be a “singles” table and “new members” table for interested guests.
On February 23, FLC is bringing back a popular event from the past, the Golf Cart Rally. The event will challenge your power of deduction with clues along the route and games of skill and chance. The Progressive Dinner, our members-only evening, is scheduled for March 16. Members will be receiving information by email, so watch your inbox and mark your calendar for these events.
Fun Lakers Club is all about having fun together. We always want our members to have a great time, try out new experiences and enjoy expanding friendships. If you haven’t joined or are not sure if it’s the right match for you, this year could be the year to give it a try. We are a growing club, and members do have priority in reserving their spots for our most popular events. As always, we look forward to seeing you in 2019.
