Are you new to Sun Lakes or just looking for more fun and friendship? Are you a winter resident looking to reconnect? Look no farther as the Fun Lakers Club is busy making plans for new and exciting activities for all the residents of our beautiful community to enjoy.
On November 14 the Fun Lakers are sponsoring an elegant evening of fine wine and food pairing. Our event begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Poolside Café at Oakwood Country Club. We will begin the evening with a glass of elegant Italian sparkling wine followed by a one hour tasting demonstration on how different food flavors are affected when paired with various wines. The demonstration will be led by Gary Spadafore, CSS, SWE, and Director of Education at Alliance Beverage. Participants will learn how the primary tastes of sweet, sour, salt and bitter affect the taste profile of wine and will decide for themselves what works and what doesn’t. After the introductory demonstration, we will enjoy three more small plates of painstakingly prepared foods paired with more fine wines. Because this informative and fun evening requires careful preparation, attendance will be limited to 75 people so be sure to make your reservations early. On December 12 we will hold our annual Dinner Dance in the San Tan Ballroom at Cottonwood Country Club. There will be festive décor and dinner will be a choice of steak or chicken. Music will be provided by Detroit native, Joanne Powers, in her first ever appearance at Sun Lakes. Joanne and her band are among the best dance bands in Arizona so put this not to be missed event on your calendar. A cash bar will be available.
