Fun Lakers Club news

Bea Nekrosius, Publicity

In February the Fun Lakers returned to high school with a Homecoming Dinner Dance. A great time was had by all and we thank Joan Bachand and her committee for all their work to make this such a festive and enjoyable evening.

In March we are leaving the days of high school behind and we will venture to Ponderosa Stables at South Mountain for a casual evening of old fashioned games, chuck wagon fare of hot dogs and hamburgers and a hayride under the beautiful Arizona sky. You are welcome to bring the adult beverage of your choice to enjoy as Cowboy Dan entertains us around a blazing bonfire. We’ll enjoy the wonderful view of the city lights of Phoenix while playing horseshoes and other old fashioned games. For questions contact Toni McAninch at 480-239-0851. As always, the event flyer and registration forms are available on our website at www.funlakers.org.

On Saturday, April 16, we will hold our very popular annual Progressive Dinner. It’s a chance to share stories with old friends and also meet new friends in a more intimate setting. Our club members generously open their homes to host dinner groups of eight and dessert groups of 16. The evening begins with a variety of delicious appetizers and a cash bar at Oakwood’s Poolside Café. It is here that you will learn the home that will host your dinner meal and the home that will host the dessert. The dinner meal is catered by a local restaurant and includes salad, main course and side dishes. Red and white wine, coffee, etc. will be provided. This is the best opportunity to get to know one another and make new friends. Following dinner, you and your group of eight will travel to a dessert host home and meet up with another group of eight guests for desserts and coffee. Bailey’s Irish Cream, etc. are provided. It’ll be fun! It’s a members only event, so why not join up for some fun? Visit us at www.funlakers.com for more info on the club, membership application and event registration. For questions on the Progressive Dinner, call Chairperson Sheila Bross at 480-895-2141.

Mark your calendars for May 21 for our picnic and games at Sisk Park as well as June 18 for a swim and dinner party at Poolside Café.

Our club is all about friendship and having fun. If you haven’t joined yet, please visit our web site www.funlakers.org for more information and a membership form, or contact Leo Klebanow at [email protected] or phone 480-729-0808. Whether you’re single or a couple, the high season for fun lasts all year for the Fun Lakers. So come and join us. We’d love to see your smile.
