The Fun Lakers would like to welcome the new members who joined us at our annual meeting and free pizza night on January 16. We thank the members who renewed their memberships and promise fun activities are ahead.
A new and original twist on mystery night awaits us on February 27 (revised date) as Oakwood’s Poolside Café will be transformed into Oakwood High School. You are invited to join us at the Homecoming Dance for “Horror at Homecoming.” DJ Jamal will provide the dance music and while we are eating and dancing, our members, the performers, will be committing an act of vengeance between dance sets. Who will the villain be? Will it be the homecoming king or queen, the pom pom captain, or perhaps one of the football players? You will be the judge. We invite you to dress in your favorite high school fashions and play along. Join the Chubby Checker Twist Contest. The club will supply Detroit Ribs and we ask the attendees to bring a side dish or dessert. They would appreciate the help and guarantee to make you feel welcome.
On March 26 we are going to revisit the hayride at Ponderosa Stables at South Mountain which we had to cancel in the fall due to inclement weather. The menu for the evening will be chuck wagon fare of hamburgers and hot dogs and you are welcome to bring an adult beverage of your choice. We will play games and be entertained by a cowboy singer as we enjoy a beautiful Arizona evening under the stars. Our annual progressive dinner will be held on April 16 at the homes of our member hosts. Please mark this date on your calendar as this is a very popular event every year. Plans for May and June include a picnic and games at Sisk Park and a pool party. Stay tuned for more details.
