Pauline Lee

Our March 17 meeting will feature Ken Roberts, a member of Phoenix Bonsai Society. Ken and his wife have a collection of approximately 50 trees of various size, from the smallest, approximately four inches tall, to the largest, approximately three feet tall. The trees vary greatly in age also. The oldest, collected in the Mojave Desert, is approximately 1,000 to 2,000 years old. The tree has been styled as a Bonsai for approximately 30 years. Ken will bring several trees and demonstrate some of the techniques and procedures to make them dwarf. Ken is a retired academic vice president for the Maricopa Community College system. He has been doing Bonsai as a hobby for about 12 years.
