As the new year is now into its third month, Gila Butte Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), is filled with activities to join. Our chapter is a women’s nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization focused on helping the community and especially Historical Preservation, Education, and Patriotism. Gila Butte Chapter meets on the third Wednesday of the month from September through May at Oakwood Country Club.
At the January meeting, we heard about the Arizona Children of the American Revolution State President and his State Project, helping the Service Animals for Veterans. His mother presented his program, as he is currently attending West Point. These boys and girls range in membership age from 2 years to 22 and learn wonderful skills building on leadership, public speaking, and community. Gila Butte Chapter, NSDAR, supports their efforts in making a difference and learning how to become good citizens.
Gila Butte Chapter’s next project will be making crocheted, knitted, or quilted lap and twin-size blankets for Arizona Veterans patients. We will distribute these in April to the veterans at Arizona Veterans. If you would like to donate a lap or twin-size blanket(s), please contact Becky at bdonatelli2244@gmail.com.
The chapter warmly welcomes women interested in joining the Daughters of the American Revolution. Ladies interested may contact Ruth at ruth@narancic.com. The chapter can assist with lineage research to prospective members. Membership is open to any woman 18 years or older who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background.
