Bea Loozer
We had a special guest last month: Sue Schwartz. Many in Cottonwood who are concerned about fitness know Sue. Although she doesn’t draw attention to herself, she has played a key role in so much that revolves around fitness, including Walk with a Doc, which now has monthly events in our community on the second Saturday of the month. The February event will be on opiods, so we can walk and chat with the Doc about a current topic. Walk with a Doc has 464 chapters, and our local chapter welcomes participation throughout Sun Lakes, not just Cottonwood. You might want to look into Walk with a Doc.
In addition to Sue, the first meeting in January was cause for celebration. Goalies like a challenge, and we have a seasonal contest with winners who deserve congratulations. I’m always amazed that so many Goalies make it through Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s celebrations without gaining even a tenth of a pound.
I did weigh in for the meeting that fell on the Saturday after New Year’s Day. I wanted to be among the winners, and I figured I might qualify if my clothes didn’t weigh me down, so I stepped on the scale without my boots, my concho belt and my dangly earrings. Alas, I was among those who ate sensibly and worked out yet still gained a little. And that’s Okay.
Join us for good company, laughs and motivational contests. You will also find support and shared wisdom. Weigh-in is Saturday from 7:00 to 7:40 a.m. in Room A-8, near the Cottonwood Library. The meeting starts after weigh-in. Contact Rita at 480-223-8340 for more information.
