Our best guess is that the average duration of a Golden Goalie’s membership is about 15 years. I have seven years of tenure myself, though it doesn’t seem that long. This month let’s take a look at two seasoned goalies that have exceeded that 15 years.
Our Liz Myers is moving to Queen Creek to be near her family in a home they built for her. How lucky is she! Liz was the treasurer for many years and filled in for other officers when they were on vacation. She is unassuming, sweet and very reliable. We will particularly miss her sweetness and smile. For 17 years Liz has been a member. It’s been a very good run and we’re counting on her visiting us occasionally. She is part of our family.
All goalies are striving for a healthy weight. We each set our own goal and spend as many weeks or years as it takes to achieve that goal. When a member reaches her goal and maintains that weight for six weeks, it’s time to celebrate with the new “keeper.” As long as a keeper maintains that weight, she remains a keeper.
In December Audrey Knock became a keeper. She laughs about it taking her so long. But she has been marching toward healthier weight in all the years I’ve known her and it is great to see her looking so good, moving so easily and being an inspiration to the group. She has been a keeper for only a month but a Golden Goalie for 20 years. If she hadn’t joined Golden Goalies, do you think her path would have been toward a healthier lifestyle or perhaps in the other direction?
