In January, many of us think about how to leave a positive impression on the world, and we ponder what New Year’s resolutions we want to make. Goalies join the world in these annual reflections.
It’s also a good time to remind ourselves of the Golden Goalies’ mission. Our new captain Janice recently gave us all a copy of our mission statement, and I’ll print it here as a reminder to all members and to clarify our approach for other readers. Read on.
“Golden Goalies strive to create an environment where health information can be shared. Our mission is to inspire members to be proactive about their health.
To achieve our mission, we empower each other to improve our health and proactive healthy lifestyles in order to decrease the risk of chronic diseases exacerbated by obesity.
As a club, Golden Goalies also offers our members:
* Support network
* Information to help members make good dietary choices
* Shared health information
* Promotion of regular exercise
* Stimulation for mental and emotional agility
* Recognition that change is difficult but can be achieved with support
* Laughs together”
I think it’s a great mission statement, don’t you?
Come join us for good company, support, laughs, and shared wisdom. Weigh-in is Saturday from 7 to 7:40 a.m. in Room A-8, near the Cottonwood Library. The meeting starts after weigh-in. Contact Rita at 480-223-8340 for more information.
