I learned a new word this week. Actually it isn’t so much a word as an abbreviation: OG. Its plural form is OGs or Ogees. Since this is the first time I’ve seen it written, I really don’t know how it’s spelled. But this is the way I heard it used: “The Ogees know how to do it right,” and it was explained to me that Ogees (OGs) are old guys. The context was that Ogees know how to keep the Cottonwood pool looking great. (No offense to new-hires).
Many Golden Goalies are Ogees. In August, Goalie Phyllis celebrated her 95th birthday and her health is exemplary, partly because of her progress as a Goalie.
So we might ask whether OG stands for Old Guys or Old Goalies. Either way, for the most part they’re doing it right.
I have to wonder which of the current Goalies will stick around to become OGs. I’m sure we’ll be Old Guys because of good health, but will we be Old Goalies? Probably so for two reasons: 1) maintaining weight loss is easier while in Golden Goalies; and 2) staying in the group with good Goalie friends just feels good.
By the way, where I grew up, “guy” included both genders.
Here’s a final note to congratulate two of our members who recently met their weight goal. Congrats to Jeri and Dimple! Keep up the good work.
