It’s a year for celebration as our national parks turn 100! What better way to join in than visiting one of the grandest of them all, the Grand Canyon. Our very own Lynn Thompson shared his knowledge and experience by hosting a workshop on the popular South Rim. Lynn offered his expertise about capturing this majestic landscape during Arizona’s monsoon season. The month of July often offers stormy skies, lightning bolts and exceptional light to canvas this stunning world wonder. Even during peak tourist season, fellow members, Jim and Linda Davis, Burt and Jan Williams, Jon Berghoff, Judy Daidone, Shelley Hughes along with Bob Little, reveled in the experience.

Interested in joining in on Sun Lakes Camera Club trips like this one? Join us at our next meeting on Thursday, September 1 in the Ceramics Room, Cottonwood Country Club from 6:30-8:30 p.m. to learn how to become a member. You can also reach out by contacting a member or go to our website at sunlakescameraclub.com for more information. Better yet, just show up! Our summer long presentation on The Basics of Competition will wrap-up with Elements of a Competitive Image. Our new competition Software, Visual Pursuits, will be discussed and not-to-be missed!

The Camera Club’s 2016-2017 year will soon begin starting in October. We will have a table at each community Open House held throughout the month of October; come sign-up to become a member and learn more about us. Check us out and all the great imagery, too. Members please contact Burt Williams at 602-354-0266, Janet Ballard at 602-621-3344 or Linda Davis at 480-794-0170 to coordinate your volunteer time and location. In addition, any members who have interest in travel and trips contact Karen Melching, [email protected] or Burt Williams, [email protected] to find out how to offer your expertise and enthusiasm. We welcome new members, too!

The Sun Lakes Camera Club has a lot of fun whether it’s sharing in photo trips or learning about how to edit the images upon our return. At every stage of our education, we begin with Introduction to Digital Photography. Seasoned member and educator, Dan Dragoon, will again offer this inspirational class. Look for upcoming details and dates for the 2017 class here in the Splash or come see us at our Sun Lakes Camera Club table during your local community Open House.
