The year 2026 has begun on a high note, as we’ve been pleased to welcome 16 new members to the club from various parts of the East Valley. In addition, members of the East Valley Photo Club (EVPC) have enjoyed a variety of experiences since resuming its normal activities after the holiday season.

A number of field trips were offered to photograph various subjects. The trips included Watson State Park in Prescott, Whitewater Draw to photograph the sandhill cranes, and the fabulous outdoor train setup and collection of Mike and Trina Long.

A Night Sky mini-class was offered featuring tips and techniques to photograph the Milky Way and star trails, and member Dan Dragoon presented a program dealing with Gestalt principles in photography at our February general membership meeting. The presentation scheduled for our March 5 meeting will be “Fundamental Post-processing, a Suggested Step-by-Step Approach,” by Ken Duquaine.

The East Valley Photo Club will participate in the Arizona Camera Club Council’s (ACCC) Spring Roundup to be held on April 11 at the Saguaro Center in Buckeye, Ariz. The Roundup will feature both print and digital photo entries from members of all of the photo clubs in the state. Entries are judged by a panel, and awards are presented to those members having the highest scores.

Thursday, April 16, will be the final meeting for EVPC’s 2025-26 season and will include our end-of-year banquet, competition, and awards. The banquet this year will be catered by the country club staff. Our year-end competition consists of the best print and digital photos submitted by members in regular competitions held during the current season. From these, the judges will select a Photo of the Year in both print and digital divisions in each competition class.

Awards will be presented to the Photographer of the Year for both print and digital division in each competition class. These awards are determined by the highest average score achieved by competitors during regular competitions held during the current season.

The Sun Lakes Camera Club (SLCC) meets on the first and third Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Navajo Room of Sun Lakes Country Club from October through April.
