Grieving is difficult, but you do not have to do it alone

Linda Gercken

Walking into an empty house. Seeing the empty chair at the table. Starting to call or text someone who will not be there. Missing that familiar shoulder to lean on. Feeling like your heart has been ripped out. These are only a few of the experiences you might encounter after the passing of a loved one. Grieving is difficult and may impact all of one’s life, not only emotionally, but also physically.

GriefShare is a program designed to help those struggling with grief. It is an opportunity to share difficult times with others or simply listen and learn how others are processing their grief. The important point is you do not have to grieve alone.

Sun Lakes United Methodist Church, located at 9248 E. Riggs Road in Sun Lakes, is beginning a new 11-week GriefShare class which will meet on Wednesdays, September 11 through November 20, at 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Each lesson is a self-contained module, so if you are unable to attend every class, you are welcome to come as often as possible. The cost is only $15 for the workbook. Register online at www.sunlakesumc.org or call the church office at 480-895-8766.
