Hope all of you have very Happy Holidays. We all survived the excitement of Halloween and Thanksgiving celebrations. Now we have Christmas and New Year’s coming soon. Most of all you snowbirds have returned or will be back shortly.

A big welcome to our Solera members. The board recently voted to include Solera in Cheers. So, we are now Sun Lakes, SunBird, Springfield, and Solera. We are pleased to have you and hope that you enjoy being members. We look forward to seeing you at our socials on Thursdays at Poolside Café. We welcome you to our wine-tasting parties and fun dining once a month.

In October, we had tables at Cottonwood, Oakwood, and Sun Lakes Country Club Open Houses for organizations and clubs in Sun Lakes. We had very welcome interest shown in our club, and some are joining. The biggest concern of those who want to join is the fear to come the first time alone. We have greeters (both men and women) who are there to help you get acquainted. They will take you around and introduce you to members. Many times, you will find someone from your hometown or state. If you are from the Midwest, you have it made.

Christmas holidays are coming soon. It’s important to support those who need help over this time of the year. There is a special dinner for families at this time of the year who are in need of support. Last year, our group took several families to help. At this dinner, these families are given a Christmas stocking filled with gifts. The Cheers members took some of these stockings (which some of the members made) and filled them with gifts. The number of families that we take depends on the response from our members.

Thanks to all of you who have brought items for the Chandler/Hamilton school children in need. It’s important that we all do as much as we can to help these students work to achieve a better life. Keep the donations coming. Also, money is used to buy the items needed by these students.
