Happy 2015! This year brings the opportunity to put photography on your resolution list. Printing your Christmas pictures of the family; learning to use that new camera you received as a gift; or joining the Sun Lakes Camera Club can reward any picture-taker in the family. Start the year off by giving yourself the gift of memories.
For inspiration, enjoy these top-honored images from our club’s competitions to motivate you. Kicking off our club season in October, Canyon Winter by Lyn Thompson received top honors in our Rotating/Assigned category of Weather – Print. Capturing our iconic wonder with a coat of white uniquely displays winter in our desert state at the Grand Canyon. Our November competition brought several stunning panoramic images from around the globe; however, Jan William’s Monument Valley received high recognition in the Special Techniques – Digital category.
Checking off your resolution list can be daunting. Photography can offer you splendid times practicing as you capture those precious moments of a grandchild’s christening, a celebration of your anniversary or documenting the views of your travels. Come join a meeting with the Sun Lakes Camera Club to learn how to capture those Arizona sunsets or a rare sighting of a bald eagle. These are just a couple of the subjects the club covers. Upcoming workshops on how to shoot food, learning editing techniques and image critiques are just a few of the photographic spectrum of topics to be offered.
Fundamentals of Digital Photography by Dan Dragoon will resume on Monday, January 5 at 7:00 p.m. in the Ceramics Room of the Cottonwood Country Club. Contact Dan at [email protected] for updates and interest in future courses.
