Pastor Jean Newell, Sun Lakes United Methodist Church
Christmas is drawing closer. For many, there don’t seem to be enough hours in the day to do what needs to be done. The “to-do” list grows longer with shopping specials to find, menus to plan and prepare and last-minute gifts to buy. When one is grieving the passing of a loved one, the loss of a job or an unexpected health crisis, holiday preparations can become dreaded tasks rather than opportunities to celebrate. The pain of heartache can overshadow all one does from morning to night.
If your heart is heavy this Christmas season, you are invited to attend a special Blue Christmas service on Wednesday, December 13, at 4:00 p.m. in Lindsay Hall at Sun Lakes United Methodist Church. Recognizing grief is a part of life as we know it, and using scripture and song, we will acknowledge in this unique service the promise of hope that is ours because of our faith in Jesus who was born in Bethlehem to be our Savior! v
