David Wasserman and Jan Rathke donate cans of coffee to the Jewish War Veterans Post 619 Coffee Campaign to benefit U.S.VETS Phoenix. With support from IronOaks and Stone & Barrel, the goal is to collect 1,000 cans of regular ground coffee to help meet the facility’s yearly supply.

U.S.VETS Phoenix is dedicated to ending veteran homelessness. The community is being asked to help these vets by donating to a Coffee Drive sponsored by Jewish War Veterans (JWV), Copper State Post 619, with enthusiastic support from IronOaks and Stone & Barrel.
JWV is hoping that the Sun Lakes and surrounding communities will join them in bringing can(s) of regular ground coffee (like Folgers) to Oakwood Country Club, 24218 S. Oakwood Boulevard in Sun Lakes, from Jan. 27 through Feb. 16. Please bring cans only, not bags or pods.
When Jewish War Veterans Post 619 asked Michelle Jameson, Executive Director of U.S.VETS Phoenix, what they needed, she suggested cans of regular ground coffee. “The vets love their coffee 24/7 and consume three cans a day. That’s right,” says Michelle, “1,900 cans of regular coffee are what the residents housed at U.S.VETS Phoenix consume in one year,” she concluded.
U.S.VETS Phoenix provides housing, mental health services, career development, and case management services to assist veterans in regaining and maintaining independence.
In appreciation of veteran support, donors will get a Stone & Barrel coupon for their choice of a free draft beer, house wine, soda, coffee, or tea with any purchase. Donors need only to show their coffee donation to the Oakwood Concierge to receive a coupon for one free beverage from Stone & Barrel. Concierge hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
