Holiday Music Time Approaches

Yvonne Orlich

It’s still hot, but we keep waiting for cooler days. It seems like we just took off for our summer break, yet here we are getting ready to start practicing holiday songs in a matter of weeks. Maybe the holiday music will put us in a cooler frame of mind.

September is just around the corner, with Sept. 1 being Labor Day. How does that happen so quickly?! The following week will be the start of the Sun Lakes Chorale fall season. We’ll be gathering on Monday, Sept. 8, at 12:30 p.m. at Sun Lakes United Methodist Church to register, gather our music, start learning new music, and revisit some older numbers.

This is the first of many rehearsals leading up to our Holiday Concert on Thursday, Dec. 11. We practice weekly and work really hard to prepare an inspiring, joyful hour of entertainment for our audience. The music will, we hope, bring energy and a holiday spirit to both the audience and the Chorale.

As we said in the previous edition of the Splash, if you are already a member, come early on Sept. 8 to fill out or return your registration forms and pay your dues before receiving your music. If you are not a member but are considering joining, come and sit in on a rehearsal to decide if it is really for you. We welcome new members (Sun Lakes residents only) and look forward to having you become part of our choral family. If you love to sing, we’ve got a spot for you—especially you men out there. We need some more male voices, but women singers are welcome, of course. Remember, Oct. 31 is the very last date we accept returning or new members

If you still have questions, don’ t forget to check out our website at sunlakeschorale.com or visit our table at any of the October Open Houses at Cottonwood, Oakwood, or Sun Lakes Country Club. You can reach out to any Chorale member. There is surely a member in your neighborhood, in your golf league, at your church, or sitting at the pool or enjoying dinner at one of the clubhouses. You can also reach out to me at Yorlich@gmail.com. Don’t be bashful!

To paraphrase an old, remembered slogan: The Sun Lakes Chorale Wants You!

See you soon.
