Horton Hatched His Last Egg

Old Horton the elephant has hatched his last egg of the Dr. Suess Season! Ten of SLCT’s Children Theatre members headed out each week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) to entertain kindergarten and 1st grade students at 23 schools in the Chandler Unified School District. They performed Dr. Seuss’s story of Horton Hatches the Egg.

The show is a hit with the kids and teachers alike. The best part for the actors, though, is watching the children’s reaction to all the characters: elephants, zebras, gorillas, monkeys, cheetahs, magicians, etc. Their reactions are priceless.

Children’s Theatre is one of the best things that Sun Lakes Community Theatre has going for it. It’s been supported by donors such as the Greater Sun Lakes Community Foundation and the Arizona Commission for the Arts because of its positive impact on students.

Perhaps you would consider joining in on the fun. There is no need to even learn lines. Just don a costume and enjoy the kids. It’s a great way to spend a couple of hours one, two, or three days each week for a couple of months.

The Children’s Theatre will begin performing again next January, so if you’re interested, contact Barbie Bergerson at 480-802-4175.
