Capt. Craig Dimerling celebrates 15th anniversary with SLFD
Sun Lakes Fire Department Chief Paul Wilson congratulated Capt. Craig Dimerling on his 15th anniversary with the SLFD. Dimerling, who has been a captain and paramedic since 2008, has been instrumental in many facets of wildfire training and response. He was involved in the purchase of the department’s thermal imaging cameras and has provided both fire ground training for firefighters as well as public education for community residents.
The original Sun Lakes Fire Department’s Station One was built in 1978 by the community and with the help of Sun Lakes’ developer Ed Robson. It was originally manned by volunteers for both fire and medical calls until professional firefighters and paramedics were hired and supplemented by volunteers in the late ‘80s. This station was torn down and the new station built in the same location in 2004 at the intersection of Sun Lakes Boulevard and Fairway Boulevard.
