The Computer Booters of Sun Lakes is an Arizona non-profit organization dedicated to helping computer users achieve maximum results for their home or small business computers and other technical devices. Meetings are the first Tuesday of the month, September through May, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Navajo Room at Sun Lakes Country Club, 25425 S. Sun Lakes Blvd. in Sun Lakes. Membership is open to everyone; you do not have to be a Sun Lakes resident to join.

December classes include Safety on the Internet with Allan Levy on Monday the 7th; Windows Considerations also with Allan Levy on Tuesday the 8th; and Photoshop Elements with Janet Quade on Monday the 14th. It’s time to learn more about keeping yourself safe on the Internet and learn what’s going to happen in January with Windows 10. Janet Quade will show how to use the popular program Photoshop Elements to edit your photos. Check the website for more information and if you’re a member, watch your inbox for any changes. Classes are free for members and $10 per session for non-members. They are held in the Arts and Crafts Room behind Sun Lakes Country Club from 6:30–7:30 p.m. Bring your well-charged laptop and remember to wear your Booters badge.

A great big thank you goes out to Tony Cestare, Carol Halling, Al Hill, Nona Hove, Jon Inman, Hans Naumann, Clark Wells, Howard Winkle and Janet Quade for their help with the Cottonwood/Palo Verde and IronOaks Open Houses and SunBird Community Day on October 17, 31 and November 4. It’s volunteers like these members who are helping the club grow.

The annual election will be conducted at the December 1 meeting. Three of the existing Board members have agreed to remain and would appreciate your support. They are Janet Quade (President), Darrel Kreglo (Vice President/Program Director) and Howard Winkle (Treasurer). Sarah Carmac has agreed to stand for Secretary. Nominations will be taken from the floor before the vote.

The December speaker is Brando Clark, Operations Manager of the OfficeMax/Office Depot store on Queen Creek and Alma School. Tech Rep Robert will join him, bringing us up to date on a myriad of topics. We always have a lot of questions for Brando and he’s always eager to answer them. We’re hoping that the new manager will also attend. This is your chance to get yet another opinion about Windows 10 as well as any other computer or technology issues.

And, last but definitely not least, we will have our annual Ice Cream Social. After the meeting, we’ll enjoy ice cream bars, cookies and coffee. Come to the meeting and get to know your fellow members.

Remember – Microsoft Support and Windows Support do not call customers. Your grandson or granddaughter is not in jail on Tatooine; the IRS doesn’t send robocalls saying you owe money and face a jail term; the benevolent dictator of Naboo didn’t die and leave you $50,000,000. Stay safe out there!
