ILGA’S annual charity event, Swing for Hope, will be held at Ironwood Golf Course on April 2. The proceeds from this event provide funds that go directly to the University of Arizona Foundation for research done in Arizona specifically. All donations are tax deductible.

The tournament will take the form of fun flag events similar to game of the day.

On Swing for Hope day, ladies choose a certain color ribbon to wear and each color represents a particular type of cancer. Examples are pink for breast cancer and blue for prostate cancer.

Something new and refreshing: donors playing on that day will write names on ribbons in honor, or in memory of, friends and family members that have been affected by this disease. The ribbons then will be posted on the window so names can be read by all. Business donations will be posted on window banners as well.

As the tournament draws closer, applications will be available online and in the Ironwood Pro Shop. Let’s make it our goal to exceed last year’s donations of $8,868. If you have any questions about this worthy cause, please call Betty Dupuis, Chairperson for Swing for Hope at 480-802-7090.

Our events for January are a Home and Home with Sun Lakes Country Club and a Best of the Best (of 2014) Tournament. The Low Net Championship is a February event. Watch the next edition for results.
