The short game challenges at Ironwood!

As we all are aware, the Ironwood layout as a par 67 is one of the best in the USA. It is challenging and makes the player use all of the 14 clubs allowed. The short game is a crucial part of your scoring and handicap. Let’s take a quick review of your wedges and what bounce is.

A sand wedge bounce refers to the angle of the club’s sole in relation to the ground. It is measured when the club is vertical in the address position. The higher bounce (10-14 degrees) is used for soft and fluffy sand. Lower bounce (0-10 degrees) is better suited for tight bunker conditions and hardpan.

More bounce helps prevent the club from digging into the sand. This is key to your greenside chipping and how the ball leaves the clubface (hopefully!) and releases to the hole. Pick your landing spot and understand how it rolls out.
