League members have shown increased interest in playing pool, as Season Four, which concluded July 18, was larger in playing members over the same season last year. Since the beginning of Season One in November 2013, the league members have played over 7,300 games of pool in league play only. We continue to play at least one session each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday when we field on average 12 to 15 players each session. An additional 6,500 games have been played in the three sessions per week, for a total of over 13, 800 games of pool so far this league year.

Members of the league play matches with other players in their skill set, which are matched at the beginning of each season (there are six seasons in a league year), which allows for players to be moved up and down the competitive “Racks” depending on their win/loss percentage. The year to date cumulative win/loss percentage is used to set the Racks for each new season. This provides each member an opportunity to play with others of similar skill sets so as to keep the players matched with others who play at their level.

At the end of the league year, October 2014, the 8 and 9-Ball tournaments will be seeded dependent on the win/loss percentage and number of games won during the league year. Any member/player who wins 1st, 2nd or 3rd, in their respective Racks during the six seasons, is automatically entered into the Year End League Tournament and will be seeded appropriately using their statistics during the league year. The 2013-2014 league tournaments are set to begin on October 28 at the IronOaks Billiard Room. Look for more tournament information in the upcoming October Splash!

In order to accommodate the third annual IronOaks Breakers Pool League Championship, the league has reserved the IronOaks Billiard Room for the dates of October 28-November 1 to host the qualified players. Now is the time to sign up to play in the league!

The 2013-2014 Season Four consisted of two Racks of 8-Ball and two Racks of 9-Ball. There were 27 players signed up for the season. The winners of Rack 1, 8-Ball were 1st Bill Lange, 2nd Jerry “Slick” Vickery, 3rd Sam Gilman; Rack 2, 8-Ball winners were 1st Willie “the Wizard” Foster, 2nd Arlin Wesner, 3rd David “the Godfather” Mork; Rack 1, 9-Ball winners were 1st Jerry “Slick” Vickery, 2nd Bill Lange, 3rd Sam Gilman; Rack 2, 9-Ball winners were 1st Bill O’Donnell, 2nd David “the Godfather” Mork, 3rd Bruce McCorkle. Prize money was paid to the top three players in each Rack.

We may, in the future, limit the players to not more than 50 IronOaks residents.
