Ironwood Lady Niners

Brrrrrr, but it’s cold out there. As temperatures dip into lower numbers, we maintain that we will not be deterred! (Photo by Jacque Smith)

The Ironwood Lady Niners 2024 season started off with our new incoming president Shirley Moore calling a general meeting, which was held on Jan. 10 in the Grill on the Green restaurant. Subjects that were covered included committee reports and up-and-coming events for golf and socials.

Our new season is starting off with a membership of 80 ladies, with two members joining for only the social aspect of the membership. We welcome any ladies who may be interested in joining our great ladies league. We always have room for more.

On Feb. 14 the IWLN will be hosting their annual St. Valentine’s golf game and luncheon with a bring your “Special Valentine,” (who may be your husband, boyfriend, son, daughter, or friend). Luncheon will be $23 per person and will include pulled pork/chicken, coleslaw, baked beans, and chocolate cake. Sign-up will be in the IWLN Computer Room with checks to be in before Feb. 5.

This will be the last year that the Arizona Golf Association (AGA) will have the individual leagues registering memberships. Beginning in 2025, all AGA memberships will need to be done online by each member. It’s not a difficult process, and as the end of the year draws near, there will be information on how to access the website and get any help if required.

Ann Gavin has graciously volunteered to revamp and update our IWLN website, making it possible to access timely information and league membership renewals, etc.

A Rule of Golf: If your opponent has trouble remembering whether he shot a six or seven, he probably shot an eight.
