There’s nothing better than fall golf in Arizona, and in November, the Lady Niners were out in full force enjoying the cool days. As the 2018 season ends in December, we all look forward to the start of the 2019 season. This 9-hole league, which plays every Wednesday, boast a whopping 95 members, and the list keeps growing as we acquire new friends. The following ladies have recently joined IWLN: Fran Kelly, Sharma Goodwin, Diane Coughlin, Joni Hiller, Sandra Lauring, Robin Murray and Barb Hewitt. Not only is this a fun group, but we have some talented golfers as well. Two of our members recently had a hole-in-one. On November 15, Barb Sletto used her hybrid on the 15th hole at Ironwood to sink her hole in one. On November 30 on the second hole of the Lakes Course, Deb Burns used her 9 iron to drop her ball in the hole. Congratulations to Barb and Deb!
Over the course (no pun intended) of six months, many Lady Niners can boast of birdies shots and chip ins. Denise Weibel, Rhonda Stafford, Barb Sletto, Shirley Moore (four times!), Eileen Moberg, Denise Lott, Linda Liberti, Sandy Krediet (twice!), Phyllis Heslin, Sally Dixon and Deb Burns all had birdie shots. Chip ins were accomplished by Barb Frank, Lone Jacobson, Margaret Johns, Dottie Meade and Sue Werner. We tip our visors to all of you ladies.
It’s 5 O’clock Somewhere is the theme for Lady Niners 2019 Golf Invitational. Mark your calendar for March 20, 2019. This will not be an ordinary day of golf. Promises have been made to make this a unique golf event with prizes, food and a few surprises. The cost of the invitational is $60 per person, golf cart included. All proceeds go to Arizonans For Children which is a non-profit organization that improves the life of abused, neglected children in foster care.
