Israel, Zionism, and Antisemitism

What can American Jews do to defend themselves against increasing antisemitic hatred and violence? What are the best strategies to fight this phenomenon and to advocate for Israel at this moment in history?

Antisemitism and violence against Jews and Jewish organizations has increased enormously in the U.S. and worldwide, particularly after October 7 when the terrorist organization Hamas attacked Israel.

This topic will be addressed on Sunday, May 4, at 1 p.m. in Sun Lakes. The Friends of Israel Committee will present its program titled “Israel, Zionism, and Antisemitism: Understanding the Connection Among Them and Possible Advocacy Strategies.” This session concludes the 2024-25 three-part series regarding Israel, which was organized by the Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation and the East Valley JCC.

Jake Bennett of the Israeli-American Council will be the speaker. He will discuss effective activities that American Jews can be involved in to strengthen Israel, fight antisemitism in the U.S., and empower themselves. The relationship between American Jews and Israel is key and beneficial to both Israel and to Jews worldwide.

Mr. Bennett is Director of Government Affairs for the Israeli-American Council. He interacts with policymakers nationwide on behalf of the Israeli-American and pro-Israel communities, ensuring that their voices are heard on a range of issues at the federal, state, and local levels.
