Have you played pool before and forgotten the rules? Has it been years since you played and you’re afraid you might embarrass yourself? Were you never that good but really enjoyed playing?

Then the IronOaks Ladies Billiards Club might be just what you need! Many people in Sun Lakes don’t even realize that Oakwood Country Club has a very well appointed pool room with four Olhausen pool tables! These tables are one of the top tables made, and the HOA keeps them in perfect condition. There are plenty of different weight cues to use, eliminating the need to have your own cue. Our IronOaks Ladies Billiards Club meets every Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. for warm-up, with play from 9:30 to 11 a.m. We are looking for some new members and wanted to invite you to stop by and check us out!

During the hot summer months, some residents return to their cooler-climate second homes or vacation to avoid the Arizona heat, but we continue to meet informally during the summer. It’s a good time to get involved, because we often use this time to help those who have never played and are interested in learning, and to help those who might not have played in years and need to refresh their skills. We play 8-Ball, 9-Ball, and Cut Throat. It’s the same as getting on a bike after many years. In no time at all, it’s like you never stopped. If you haven’t played pool in a while, it just takes a short while to have it all come back! At the same time, you’ll get a chance to make some new friends.

Although we all strive to improve our pool skills, our main focus is to have fun. Once a month on the first Tuesday, we select a local restaurant and lunch together—outside when the weather permits. It’s a good way to try a new restaurant, get to know your teammates better, and solicit recommendations to find a vendor to solve a problem you have.
