The IRS has a Conscience Fund, where people have sent various amounts to clear this conscience for not paying all the taxes they owed. Most people have things in their past that they struggle with, even sins of the past that continue to nag them.
For a Christian, these past issues ought to not still be nagging us. The Apostle Paul tells us that we have been justified before God by the blood of Jesus. The word “justified” means Christ has covered – forgiven our sin and we stand before God just as though we never sinned! Paul uses the words “saved” and “reconciled” to describe our relationship with God.
Christ, by His death on the cross, forgives our sins; He justifies us before God and the result is a clear conscience. 2 Corinthians 5:17 states “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come.”
We, as Christians, should not let our enemy plague us.
