Gary Aleshire, Sun Lakes Resident
I have the honor and privilege of serving on the board of directors for the South County Fire & Medical District, part of the Arizona Fire & Medical Authority (AFMA). Prior to being elected as a director, I served over 32 years in the fire service as a firefighter, paramedic, medical officer, and fire chief. My recommendation for this bond initiative comes with a deep understanding and appreciation for the true financial needs of the fire district to operate effectively and efficiently.
I would ask that each Sun Lakes resident take a sincere look into Proposition 408. Your support would be very much appreciated in providing the capital needs that our firefighters and emergency medical personnel desperately need to continue high-quality and skilled services to residents and guests during emergency and community preparedness services. Proposition 408 directly funds fire and medical apparatus, repair and update of station facilities, cardiac monitors, and additional critical equipment used by the emergency responders. The underlying need for this funding request is due to the continued erosion of state-allotted funding sources and the uncontrolled rise in costs for acquiring equipment and materials.
As a board director, I am committed to transparency and fiscal responsibility. I believe the AFMA model ensures your tax dollars are spent wisely, and Proposition 408 is a request for the resources necessary to continue delivering the high-quality service our residents expect. I fully support South County Fire and Medical District’s Proposition 408 request. Please join me in offering your support for this essential and critical funding request to keep our firefighters safe and well equipped to serve those in need during crisis and community safety preparedness.
