Happy New Year! Now is the time to put on those dancing shoes and take off those (holiday) pounds! Good things happen to those who sweat, and you don’t even need a partner!

The steps are easy to follow, and the music is crazy fun. A little Latin, a little jazz and some good ol’ ‘50s and ‘60s thrown in for good measure. Even if you think you can’t dance, once you get started, you will “let go” and dance like no one is watching. Plus, you will quickly find your stress level reduced and your energy increased; not to mention weight loss, muscle toning and a great feeling of accomplishment!

In my class, the fun comes first; the physical benefits follow. Calorie burning is not a chore, unlike traditional cardio classes. The full-body movements engage all the muscle groups, and suddenly you will look more toned, who knew? The classes are upbeat and low impact. Often, when the cool down comes, the reaction in class is, “Already?”

We have also started using light weights, two or three pounds. It’s only for a few songs, but it sure makes a difference to our upper arms! Very needed, right?

I have two classes in Cottonwood and two classes at Sun Lakes Country Club. You don’t have to be from one of these clubs; everyone is welcome! Dance with your heart, and your feet will follow! For more information, you can call me at 480-883-8269.
