After 17 years I still get excited when I start picking dances and music for classes restarting on Monday, September 5. I also realize how much I look forward to teaching line dancing to the dancers returning and all the new dancers who have registered for this next season. The music is the first to ignite these feelings. The songs chosen for all the levels just make you want to dance; i.e. Make Love to Me by Anne Murray; September in the Rain by Rod Stewart; Just a Closer Walk with Thee by Cristy Lane; Mack the Knife by Bobby Darin; Cake by the Ocean Clean version by James Major; Can’t Stop the Feeling by Justin Timberlake; H.O.L.Y. by Florida Georgia Line; One Call Away by Charlie Puth; Big Blue Tree by Michael English, our favorites by George Strait, Scooter Lee, Celine Dion, Madonna, Nat King Cole plus many more! It’s really hard to not break into a dance when these songs are heard in stores while shopping.
To join us and learn line dances you need to call to register for the Ultra Basics Class on Mondays starting September 5 (yes, Labor Day) in the SunBird Ballroom at noon for $2. If you can listen to directions, want to challenge your mind, give your body exercise, love to dance and meet some of the nicest people call 480-802-0201 after 10:00 a.m. to register for this class if you are reading this article. If you have line dancing experience, there are two more classes with higher levels of dances. Ultra Basics is a prerequisite to these classes.
While listening to great music, learning dances and dancing them, we escape this crazy world. We actually can ignore our life hiccups and have fun dancing. God bless line dancing!
