Judee Curtis
It’s usually a little difficult to get the mind and body ready to start a new dancing season. This year, it was really a challenge because of location and different day changes. The challenge was met, and many people need to hear “Thank You!”
Thank you to the new dancers who were willing to come for a while on a different day and to a smaller room. Thank you to the Beyond Basic dancers who gave up their time so three levels of dancers could dance starting in September. Thank you to Linda Caton and Julie in the HOA Office of Cottonwood/Palo Verde who found an hour to allow the BB dancers to have their two times a week in a room that has a floating floor. Our knees and hips thank you for allowing us to use that floor.
You can call now and register for the Ultra Basic Class that will restart on Monday, January 8. The Ultra Basic Class is for new dancers, and the dances are chosen to give you a good base in order to grow and learn more difficult dances. This UB class is on Mondays in the SunBird Ballroom at 11:30 a.m. for $2.00. Call Judee Curtis at 480-802-0201 after 10:00 a.m. to register for the January 8, 2018, class.
The dancers who choose to come to my classes use their class as an exercise time for bodies, minds and an escape from this Crazy World! You probably won’t see any of the dances I teach danced at any local dances. My method of teaching lets you know what you do with your feet on every move in each dance, and you are encouraged not to follow because it hinders learning. You need to be physically able to move and listen to directions. It breaks my heart when people want to learn and have to quit because it hurts their knees, backs, can’t hear directions, etc. If there is a question, “Can I do this?” maybe you need to check with your doctor before you register.
If you can join us, you will discover it is fun to learn while listening and dancing to great music. Couples do come together, but it is an activity learned on your own, so you don’t need a partner. God Bless Line Dancing!
