Judee Curtis
Having taught for 20+ years, I should feel really old. But as we are dancing new dances to new music, meeting new dancers, and reconnecting with the restarting dancers, that same feeling of looking forward to another great dancing year with a whole bunch of nice people tells me why I’ve taught all these years. My body, mind, and stamina need to cooperate, as I dance with all three levels.
The three levels of dance classes are Ultra Basics, Basics, and Beyond Basics. In order to set up, check in, and dance each level for an hour with breaks, we are in the SunBird Ballroom on Mondays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. All dancers know the level or levels they will be dancing.
If you want to register for Ultra Basics in the SunBird Ballroom on Mondays at 11:30 a.m. for $2, you have until October 15. If you cannot meet this deadline, you may register for that class restarting Monday, January 6, 2020. Register by calling 480-802-0201 after 10 a.m. You also need to leave a message: “I’m calling for line dancing with Judee,” or your number will be blocked. Best answering machine we’ve ever had.
Line dancing allows a person to dance without a partner. Yes, we have men who line dance with us. I remember t-shirts worn by a group in California that said, “Real men line dance.” Saying, “You don’t stop dancing because you grow old. You grow old because you stopped dancing!” Fact: “Line dancing is great to exercise the body and mind. Mostly mind. Plus, it’s a lot of fun!” God bless line dancing!
