Sun Lakes Breakfast Lions Come to the Aid of the East Valley Marine Corps League
Brian Curry
The East Valley Marine Corps League once again were hosting their annual golf tournament here in Sun Lakes. As they have done in the past, they reached out to the Sun Lakes Breakfast Lions to help them to “Show the Colors” at the entrance to the Oakwood Country Club, which we were only too glad to do.
Member Steve Pryor, past President Bob Glantz, and Vice President Dave Coffman did the “honors.” You, too, can “Show the Colors” at your home. Reach out to the Breakfast Lions at 480-242-4356 and we’ll tell you how.

Serving the Community—Neighbors Who Care
Christine Linder
The Sun Lakes (Evening) Lions Club had the opportunity to serve our community by donating funds to help Neighbors Who Care purchase their new van. Their van service provides reliable transportation to various stores, ensuring that homebound seniors can maintain their independence and quality of life. Their volunteer drivers are certified with the AARP driver safety class, providing peace of mind for clients and their families.
If you would like to make a donation to the Sun Lakes (Evening) Lions Club to help fund organizations such as Neighbors Who Care, please call 480-352-8076 for more information.

The Sun Lakes Breakfast Lions Club participated in the vital “Kids Need to Read” program at a Chandler school. Vice Presidents David Coffman and Brian Curry represented the club where children are able to get two or three books for free and to further their interest in reading.

The Polecats volunteer helpers (Lions Club members) met recently at the shed to finish getting the American and Service flags ready to be installed for Memorial Day through July 4 in the front yards of all those who participate in the club’s Fly the Flag program.

Sun Lakes Breakfast Lions Donate to Sun Sounds of Arizona
Brian Curry
The Sun Lakes Breakfast Lions were happy to make their donation to the wonderful Sun Sounds of Arizona (SSOA), but sad because it was the last time they would be meeting with retiring director Andrea Pasquale who has headed this great organization for many years.
SSOA provides live-feed, on-demand audio through their devices of everything from daily newspapers throughout Arizona and elsewhere, along with various magazines covering many interests. They also can handle everything from supermarket flyers to daily TV programming, with everything from bedside TVs to HD radios and other sources—all things that can enrich the lives of the blind and visually impaired.
New Sun Lakes Breakfast Lions Club member Margaret Burket-Smith found the tour of their offices and studios particularly fascinating. “I found it so informative and was so glad I went,” Burket-Smith commented. Her guide dog Joey wagged his tail in agreement.
You can contact Sun Sounds of Arizona at 480-774-8300.
