The Oakwood Artists League (OAL), formed in 2003, welcomes all skill levels that embrace mediums ranging from oil to acrylic, watercolor, pastel, collage, mixed media, pen and pencil. Since we are NOT instructor-led, some prior experience is necessary. While several OAL artists have received much acclaim, do not let this discourage you. Most of us use stepping stones to increase our painting proficiency and group bonding which helps us along the way.
OAL meets every Friday and on the second Tuesday of the month in the Oakwood Arts and Crafts Center Building. The art room is available Fridays for open member painting from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and the second Tuesday of the month (which is usually reserved time for workshops) from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Simply arrive and leave at your convenience.
If desired, OAL members often offer friendly critiques of a fellow member’s art on the first Friday of the month between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Members who would like to demo a new skill they have learned or want to lead a mini-workshop are invited to do so on the fourth Friday of every month or add an all-day or half-day workshop on the second Tuesday of the month. Bring your medium, inspiration and expectation. When newcomers arrive, senior members will provide starting guidance. Should you wish to join OAL, contact our leader Joyce via email at [email protected].
Stop by and visit our talented members at the OAL Show and Sale in the Sun Lakes Country Club Lobby on Friday, December 8, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Maybe you will find that last-minute holiday gift!
