Sun Lakes residents interested in playing tournament pool in the coming year are encouraged to sign up for the Lucky Shot Pool Club. Now in its 21st year, the organization will host its annual registration meeting beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 24, at the Cottonwood Phoenix Room.

Persons unable to attend this meeting can join by stopping by the club’s table at the Cottonwood Open House between 9:00 a.m. and noon on Saturday, October 14, or by contacting Tournament Director Steve Colby at 480-839-6125.

The club offers competition in 9-Ball and 8-Ball. A new procedure allows members to play in both 9-Ball and 8-Ball during the same tournament. Membership dues are $30 for the club’s three regular-season tournaments running from November 1 to December 10, 2017; January 1 to February 10, 2018; and March 1 to April 10, 2018.

In the round-robin completion, players are placed in groups, or pockets, with other players based on their scores in previous tournaments. Each player receives a sheet giving names and telephone numbers of others in their pocket. Players then contact each other to arrange games at a mutually-agreed-upon time.
