We may be far from the socialites of New York City and Hollywood, yet the Sun Lakes Camera Club has created their own scavenger hunt for all members to participate. This February begins the hunt. It will consist of one member from each class: A, B, C, and NM. Each group of at least four will have a list of (10) items to photograph. The scavenger hunt will kick-off on the first Thursday in February; then, the best image for each item will then be submitted by the group for judging in March.

Our spotlight images are from two very talented photographers in our club. Barbershop in the Saloon by Vickie Rost, Class A, received top recognition in our December Print – Rotating/Assigned category. Travelling to the old gold mining town of Bannack, Montana in July 2014, Vickie’s image takes us back into the days of whiskey saloons and gunfights. Having participated in several photography trips by the club, Raul Lopez has joined our competitions this year. As a new member, his The House on the Hill received top honors in the category Rotating/Assigned – Print. It was early morning and the sun was already over the mountains to the east but the clouds that were present helped filter its brightness which then presented one of those dream photographic opportunities. Well done members!

Come join your local photographers for a day filled with beautiful imagery. On March 14 the Sun Lakes Camera Club will host the Arizona Camera Club Council’s Spring Round Up 2015. The Sun Lakes Country Club will transform into a gallery of photographs and offer two photographic workshops by Beth Ruggiero-York on night landscapes and night scenes. Lunch is provided with registration. Visit the ACCC website at http://www.arizonacameraclubcouncil.org/ to register.
