Anyone in need of food assistance can present a photo ID and register with Matthew’s Crossing to receive one Emergency Food Box every 14 days. Emergency Food Boxes are comprised of nutritionally balanced fresh and non-perishable foods designed to feed a family for up to three days. The address for Matthew’s Crossing is 1308 N. Arizona Avenue, Chandler.
When available, perishable items include bread, milk, meat, fresh produce, and bakery items. Items in the Emergency Food Boxes may include pasta, rice, beans, canned fruits and vegetables, soup, cereal, dry milk, and canned meats.
Reach Out Sun Lakes in support of Matthew’s Crossings’ hunger-fighting initiatives this month are as follows: Sun Lakes Unity Church, 45 pounds of food and $75 cash, and Chandler Democratic Club, 37 pounds of food.
We had a home pick-up request from a Sun Lakes resident in Cottonwood. It was 175 pounds of food. We welcome requests for home pick-ups, as carrying food to the places listed can be very difficult.
To schedule a home pick-up or visit to Matthew’s Crossing, or if you have questions, please contact Jim Meagher of Reach Out Sun Lakes by email at paloverdejim@gmail.com or by phone at 630-346-1966. Financial donations to Matthew’s Crossing are federal income tax deductible and qualify for the Arizona Tax Credit.
